Mother allegedly turns violent when confronted about parenting skills

A 25-year-old woman from Wildwood is facing charges after police say she threw a baseball-sized rock at a man during a heated argument about her parenting abilities. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, according to the local sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to a residence on Pine Street around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of an assault. When they arrived, they found a man with a visible injury to his arm. He told officers that the woman, who is the mother of his child, became enraged after he confronted her about how she was handling their toddler's discipline.

Witnesses at the scene said the woman picked up a large rock from the yard and hurled it at the man, striking him in the arm. The man did not require hospitalization but was treated for bruising and a possible fracture. The woman was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. No court date has been set.
